Instruments and Equipment
At Niles Vision Clinic we strive to provide a high quality eye examination. To assist us in achieving this standard we utilize many advanced instruments besides the normal eye examination equipment. Our autorefractor obtains a starting measurement for a glasses prescription without the patient having to say a word. This especially works great for children and special needs patients. It also has a corneal topographer (instrument that measures and maps the front of the eye) built in to allow us to diagnose and manage corneal diseases and it provides us advanced information for contact lens fittings. We have a newer generation visual field (instrument that tests peripheral vision) that assists us in managing our glaucoma patients. For patients who have had difficulty completing visual fields in the past, it has a testing strategy that allows for speedier results.
To assist us in managing our patients with eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, we have a camera that can photograph the back of the eye. This allows us to better monitor for changes in the back of the eyes through the years. We also have a trace and transmit instrument that allows us to obtain a tracing of your frame and send the results to our lab in Grand Rapids. They then can grind the lenses and speed up the process of completing your glasses orders. It also allows those looking to keep their current frames to not have to go without them while they are waiting for their new lenses. |
